Our Company
Hand of Help UK is a young company, operating from our headquarters in Leeds. Established in 2007 it has grown relentlessly, exceeding the most optimistic expectations and since the start of its operations the number of people working for Hand of Help UK has increased from just 2 to 310 (May, 2011). One of our main goals is to increase employment (directly as well as through providing financial aid), and we are very proud to have come this far.
We specialize in collection and recycling of clothes, using door-to-door and Textile Bank collection scheme throughout the UK. Due to the rising trend of cheep disposable clothing, thousands of tons of clothes and millions pairs of shoes are thrown away in the UK every year. This puts immense pressure on our already overstretched landfill sites. The majority of this can actually be recycled into new products or reused in developing countries, this way saving natural resources and providing support to those who really need it.
We generate profits through donations of unwanted items, which are then distributed to our partnering charity foundations. We support the neediest of charities, operating in poor countries and in most cases we provide the biggest portion of their total income.
- NGO Two Sisters, located in North East South Africa, which supports orphans of the AIDS epidemic.
- NGO Child Rehabilitation Center, located in Sri Lanka, which supports children who have been affected by war, poverty, suffered neglect, abused at the hands of adults.
- NGO The Education for Development Foundation (EDF), located in Thailand, which helps disadvantaged children to gain access to basic education, develop their skills and qualify for better jobs, aiding their communities as well as their families.
- NGO Hand of Help, located in Cambodia, which builds hospitals and establishes medical assistance posts that can provide urgent medical assistance. Since 07.2009 till 05.2010 Company "Hand of Help UK" Ltd. has donated the amount of $90168 to NGO Hand of Help .
The collection and recycling of used clothing achieves several goals: it helps the environment, whilst giving charities a much needed revenue stream and creates local employment.
